Baseball America's MLB Draft preview edition is out, and two Broward County baseball studs are poised to go in the first round.
Former American Heritage shortstop Deven Marrero (now at Arizona State) is projected to be drafted No. 8 to the Pittsburgh Pirates, and Jim Callis sees Archbisop McCarthy righthanded flamethrower Nick Travieso No. 20 to the San Francisco Giants.
Brandon Lopez, the current American Heritage shortstop, was labeled a late-round talent. Lewis Brinson of Coral Springs is considered by the periodical to be a sandwich-round (Nos. 32-60) pick.
Brandon Welch, a right-handed pitcher at Palm Beach State Junior College is considered a middle-round talent.
